NEW SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIOD (SEP) GOES LIVE TODAY!

To help consumers who didn’t know about the tax penalty or the availability of state subsidies to help pay for health coverage, Covered California has added a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) with new Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)—view the new Quick Guide!

New QLEs are now available until April 30, 2020, for this distinct Special Enrollment Period:

1. Learned of new PENALTY/FINANCIAL HELP

2. Covered, seeking subsidy

This SEP allows for consumers currently insured off-exchange (directly through an insurer) to switch to Covered California in order to receive the new state subsidy and existing federal subsidies if they are eligible. These off-exchange consumers need your assistance to understand if they are eligible for financial help, and to understand the benefits of on-exchange coverage. We encourage you to contact your off-exchange consumers to make sure they are not missing out on potential financial help: Covered California estimates that 280,000 off-exchange insured Californians are likely eligible for new state or existing federal subsidies but are leaving that financial help on the table by remaining insured off-exchange. Most of these individuals earn under 400% FPL and would be eligible for both the state and federal subsidy, while about 40,000 would be eligible to receive the new state subsidies for middle-income Californians.

Your consumer is counting on you to help them! We know our Certified Insurance Agents are experts in products offered both off- and on-exchange, so we have implemented the following changes to encourage consumers to work with their Agent, or to find an Agent if they do not already have one delegated:Find out more Call 909-656-4885

• Coveredca.com will encourage consumers with off-exchange coverage to reach out to their Agent if they have one. Consumers without a delegated Agent will be directed to Help On-Demand so a Certified Insurance Agent can assist them.

• Off-exchange insured consumers who contact our Consumer Service Center and who do not have a delegated Agent listed on their account will be directed to Help On-Demand so a Certified Insurance Agent can assist them.
